Camelot's Dream

It is a dream? What is happening now, is it a dream? Well, whether or not, I will vent here.

John has passed on

You probably do not know John. He was a guy I worked with when I was with what is formerly known as AlliedSignal. I first met John when he came up from Houston after working for a contractor there. He had worked on a couple of shuttle launches and other space oriented operations. He came to Colorado because the contract was changed and he needed a place to go. We had an opening.
He came with experience. Quite honestly I am not sure of his educational background. He was a VietNam vet with the Army. He told me stories of his time there. What all he did and such. So anytime I went to the post for stuff I always brought back something that was related to his military experience.
John was one that did not do a whole lot of socializing. He had a circle of friends he rode bicycles with in Houston. He had some pictures of his activities and told of some crazy stories about times he went to Louisiana. One was about a small eat'n place that was someone's home. The meal was a large one and when they could not put it all away, the hostess was very upset and gave them some exlax to make room.
We had an inside joke about Jack Sh.. and every once in a while someone would come to us and ask us a question that was really 'dumb". We would say go ask Jack if our answer was not correct. "I don't know Jack." You are right about that. I found a bumper sticker that stated you don't know jack sh.. and he had that posted in the cube.

He took up roping for a while. He wanted to do some twirling and found that hard. I know he did some hiking on his own and did take up bow hunting. Not sure if he did get any game with it.

He went to Diego Garcia on a trip to assess the antenna there. He brought back a t-shirt as we were always getting something from the places we would go. I saw that shirt a number of weeks ago and thought I needed to call him. We lost touch for a long time. We each went our separate ways. It wasn't until I found out he passed that when I thought of it was when he was in hospice.

How many times do we get that tug that we need to call or write a person but we don't. I will have to do a better job of that.
